Maui dolphin: by Matheus

Learning Intention: I am writing a report.
Success Criteria: I am successful when I write a report about Maui dolphins.

Maui dolphins are mammals.They are warm blooded.

Maui dolphins have grey skin and white and black markings. They have round dorsal fin on there back. They have a short snout. 

Males are smaller than the females. 

Maui dolphins use their tails to help them swim. They have fins to help them balance. 

Maui dolphins eat small fish and small squid. 
They look for food near the surface. They also eat jellyfish and small octopuses.


There are 55 Maui dolphins left.
Maui dolphins can be found in the ocean of the West Coast of New Zealand's North island.

Sharks are not mammals.

Sharks have fins to balance.
They have tails to help them move faster and swim. 
Some sharks are grey and some are blue and white.

Sharks have lots of teeth to eat.
Sharks eat fish, and  sea lions. Some sharks eat smaller sharks.


Sharks can be found in oceans. Some Sharks can be found in rivers.

Sharks are cold blooded fish.

Whales are mammals they are warm blooded. 


Whales eat small crabs, octopuses, zooplankton.Some whales hunt for food in the cold

 Whales live in all  parts of the world. Some whales hunt for food in the cold water but migrate to warmer waters to give birth. 
Some types of whales can communicate by singing.

Problems: Choose numbers that makes ten than add to find the answer
1) 7+3+4=14 I know its 14 because 7+3=10+4=14.

2) 9+1+7+2=19 I know its 19 because 9+1=10 so 10+9=19 

3) 2+6+3+8+7=26 I know its 26 because 2+8=10 7+3=10 so 10+10=20 so 20+6=26

4) 9+12+8+11+4=44 I know its 44 because 9+11=20; 12+8=20 so 20+20=40+4=44.

Success Criteria: I know I am Successful when I can multiply skip counting doubles and repeated
problems 

1) how many marbles are there all together
2 children had 10 each=20; I skip count by twos 2,4,6,8,10,12,14,16,18,20. I use doubles 10+10=20 
 10 x 2= 20 I multiply 
2) Poppy Sam and miller have 5 marbles each.
how many marbles do they have all together I skip count by fives 5,10,15
I use repeated addition 5+5+5=15.  and I multiply 5 x 3 =15.

3)  Bentley ate 3 packets biscuits. There 10 biscuits in each packet. How many biscuits did he ate altogether?. I use repeated addition 10+10+10=30 I multiply 3 x 10=30. I skip count by ten = 19, 20, 30,

Success Criteria:I know I am successful when I write a story about Grandma and Grandpa in order using full stops and capital letters correctly.
                       Grandma and Grandpa
Two years ago me and my mum went to Brasil to visit my grandparents and my dogs. I had my 7th birthday and there were people who help so I could have a great birthday with my grandparents in Brasil.
I had an Avengers cake with chocolate. After we ate the cake I open my toys. I went to play with my little puppy. Then I played with my friends.We played tag at the backyard of our house.
Then I went to my other grandma and grandpa. When I 
got there I gathered some eggs from the 36 chickens.Then I gave 
the eggs to my grandpa. Lastly at night time we had dinner then everyone went to sleep.

 Last week all Room 5L students went outside the church to celebrate Ash Wednesday. Father Andrew burnt our favourite toys and teddy bear drawings. I was talking about my favourite I pad.  Augustine was talking about his doll. After that we sang a song inside the church. In the church everyone had ashes on there forehead.Then we prayed.Lastly all Room 5L went back to class.
